I receive inquiries daily from families looking for support with breastfeeding issues in and around Peterborough. Most families have accessed NHS help and support, and although they've been very helpful and friendly, they haven't found why their baby is still struggling or why they are still struggling. Unfortunately, expertise is rare in this field despite the titles that some health professionals have and as an international board certified lactation consultant, we are considered experts in this field.

Sometimes it can just be something simple, like positioning and attachment needs to be more natural and baby facilitated. Or sometimes there can be oral issues that need to be worked with to help the baby have a more effective feed either on the breast or the bottle. It is not normal for mothers to experience pain with breastfeeding, but often that is normalised as suggestions to help or improve latch are ineffective.

There is always a why, and my skill set is to show you what the why is to help you make an informed decision of where to go. Frequently, parents say that their confidence is lost with the breastfeeding journey because they don't seem to be making any progress, and that's really hard to recover in a new mother. Especially when family or friends or partners see the frustration, feel the pain, and want to make things easier by suggesting alternatives.
